Being a gateway to deep and dense forests and meadows of the Himalayas, Chopta Chandrashila is one of the most thrilling trekking trails for the Mountaineers in the Garhwal region. Situated at 4000 meters above sea level, the emerald mountains of this place engulf infinite view of Kedar peak, Himalayas, Nandadevi, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba peak. This trek is known to be the summit of Tungnath and Panch Kedar, which is why it is also called Moon Rock. Moreover, the Chandrashila peak also is home to special red and pink rhododendrons.
If you wish to garner a breathtaking experience of spilled snow, plan your trip during winters. That way, you will also be able to savor a captivating view of Deoriatal lake while passing across this peak. One of the most famous Hindu fables, associated with this place, believes that Lord Rama meditated here after defeating the Ravana. Another belief that is attached to this place is that Moon-god, Chandra, used to spend time here, which is why it is called the Chandrashila.
The trek to the Chandrashila peak is 3.5 km from Chopta, from where it goes to Tungnath with additional one km of the journey ahead. But with us, you can rest assured that professionals are taking care of the entire itinerary, no matter what season you choose for the trip.
