Those who adore embracing tranquil aura of nature in the hilly slopes of north India, never miss out on a trek to Dodital, which is a beautiful lake dwelling amidst the emerald mountains and lush green valleys. Located at an elevation of 3307 meters above sea level, this lake is a smooth trekking destination. It is known not only for its beauty but also has some mythological history attached to it. According to Hindus, this is the place where Lord Ganesha aboded and gave this place its name, i.e., Ganesh-ka-tal or Dhundital. Moreover, it is also said that Lord Shiva beheaded deity around this place. As one can easily find rare Himalayan trouts here, which is locally called Dodi, another source to the name of this place comes into light. This place is one of the reasons why Uttarakashi is considered the best destination for trekkers.
Asi Ganga gets fed by Dodital and joins Bhagirathi to meet at Gangori unitedly. In this trekking tour, adventure enthusiasts also leverage the opportunity to hang around the places in the Asi valley. To get started, trekkers first get to Bhagirathi valley from where they ascend to dense and lofty forests ahead. Thereafter, there is a 19 km of trajectory from Uttarkashi to Sangamchatti, which they traverse by a vehicle before beginning with the real trek to Dodital. Diverse culture and heritage of India complement this landscape alongside nature; thus, making it worthwhile for people to head out for this trek.
